Expired chocolate? Who cares!

Sell by August 2004. Sell by, not eat by.

Delicious!

I think that is what got you into the trouble to begin with. This whole sell by vs. eat by. Usually the difference between them is under 5 years :)

Well, this one has just reached its 5th anniversary. I have it in my snack drawer at work. It's sharing space with some vintage almonds, but they are a mere 3 years old, or so. Whatever Christmas I made all those nuts for presents. Maybe 2 years ago, actually. They don't taste bad, but they also don't taste good. That's why they need to be dipped into the Nutella.

I hate to be the voice of you may not want to do that but...Nutella goes rancid. And it's not bad tasting, just kind of smells like a stuffy closet and tatses a little drier*. Oh and it has a good amount of milk product in it. I understand there is also a huge amount of sugar, but come on, eventually becky bacteria and vicky virus are going to set up their own candy shop.

*I had been eating the same jar of nutella from before I moved back to NY, so 2001 maybe, and finally had to throw it out eight months ago when I moved to this apartment. I thought it was off, but balsa wood tastes the same.

So, are you saying I have 3 more good years left in this jar? ;)

Don't tempt her Tim, she'll eat it, she's crazy like that!

Oh, I'm eating it, all right! It still tastes like Nutella, so figure it's ok. Plus, I haven't had to make any emergency trips to the bathroom at work after eating it. Expired Mini Moos, on the other hand, are a completely different story! Those will send you to the bathroom pretty quickly-and make you stay there for about 45 minutes. Not so bad if you're at work, but if you are driving through Dodge City, Kansas at 2 am, and the only thing for miles is a 24-hour Walmart, it's a little inconvenient. Those I refuse to eat anymore--even the ones that AREN'T expired.
